Verimargin Privacy Policy

Verimargin is a Chrome extension that overlays Amazon product pages with FBA fee calculations and profit projections. It is built to be private by design.

The short version: the free Verimargin extension has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking — nothing you do in the extension is transmitted anywhere, and your costs never leave your browser. This website (verimargin.com) does use Google Analytics for traffic measurement; see The website below. The two are completely separate.

What Verimargin stores (locally only)

Verimargin stores the following in chrome.storage.local, on your device only:

Product costs (COGS) you enter, keyed by the product's ASIN, so they're remembered when you revisit a product page.
Category overrides you select for specific products.
Preferences — theme and default category settings.

This data stays in your browser profile. The free extension never sends it to us (the free tier has no servers to send it to) or to any third party. Uninstalling the extension deletes it.

What Verimargin reads

To calculate fees, the extension reads product information (price, dimensions, weight, category) from the Amazon product page you are viewing. This happens entirely inside your browser. Verimargin does not read your browsing history, other tabs, or any pages outside amazon.com product pages.

What the free Verimargin extension does not do

No data transmission to any server
No analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking
No cookies
No account or sign-up
No selling, sharing, or monetizing of any user data
No reading of Amazon account data, order history, or login credentials

The website (verimargin.com)

This marketing website is separate from the extension. It uses Google Analytics to measure traffic: it sets a _ga cookie and shares usage data with Google — pages visited, device and browser information, and approximate location. This applies only to the website. The free extension is unaffected — it still sends nothing, and your COGS never leaves your browser. We use this only to understand how many people find Verimargin and which pages help; we do not sell or share it beyond Google's analytics processing.

Permissions explained

storage — saves your COGS entries and preferences locally. This is the only API permission the extension requests.
Amazon product-page access — the content script runs only on Amazon product-detail pages (via manifest match patterns, not a broad host-permissions grant) to read product data and display the overlay.

External links

The overlay offers optional quick-links to third-party research tools (Keepa, CamelCamelCamel, Amazon Seller Central). These are plain links — nothing is sent to those sites unless you click them, and their own privacy policies apply once you do.

The Pro tier (planned)

Verimargin's core calculator is free, forever, and 100% on-device. A future Pro tier may add optional features that need a server — for example, opt-in cloud sync so your COGS follows you across devices. Anything like that will be off by default, clearly labeled, and entirely your choice. The free tier always stays exactly as described above: on your device, sent nowhere. We're telling you now so it's part of the deal from day one, not a surprise later.

If this policy changes, the updated version is posted on this page and dated above. Changes affecting the extension also ship with the extension release and are noted in the release notes.
